How do I submit a podcast or blog to be considered for posting on the Ingram Interact sites?
Please e-mail the nature of your request, along with detailed contact information, to interact@ingrambook.com. All requests will be considered at the discretion of Ingram’s editorial manager, according to scheduling, availability, and in keeping with content we deem valuable and appropriate for our customers. You will be contacted only if your content has been chosen for posting on one of the Ingram sites. | What are Podcasts?
Podcasts are digital files recorded for downloading through RSS feeds for playback. RSS allows users to download podcasts to computers or mobile devices for playback at any time. You will need to engage a type of “pod catcher”, of which there are many free options on the internet. (iTunes, myPodder, smartFeed to name a few)
| I’ve downloaded a podcast, but can’t find it on my computer?
Many people who have never seen a Podcast have a hard time locating it on their machine. The easiest way to do this is to go into iTunes (or other personal media player) and click Podcasts. This will be in the source list of your machine. You will then want to go into the Podcast Directory to see what you have in there and make sure all your downloads are available. If you do not use iTunes, follow the instructions that come with your personal media player for podcasts. | What is a Blog?
A Web Log or Blog is simply a web journal or collection of entries that the creator, Blogger, wishes to share with any reader | I don’t have an ipod- is there another way to listen to the podcast?
Yes, you can just click on “listen” under the podcast title, and you can listen on your computer. | I have followed the instructions, but can’t get the podcast to play on my computer/personal media device. What should I do?
Each computer and media device is different, and has its own technical support issues. The podcast site is currently operating correctly (note: customer care will be notified if the site is down), so the issue has to be either with your hardware or software. We recommend checking your software first (iTunes, personal media player software) to be sure it is installed and operating correctly, then checking your hardware (iPod, mp3 player, etc) to be sure it is operating correctly. Each of these elements should have their own “help” or “troubleshooting” options. | What does RSS mean?
RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is an XML-based format for content distribution on the Internet. | How does RSS work?
When a new article/blog/podcast is posted or a change made to a webpage, RSS keeps track of the changes and delivers them to you. RSS feeds are most often attached to text, images, podcasts and video, but they can be used with any document (word processing and spreadsheets) that has content that changes.
| How can I use RSS?
To view RSS feeds, you need an RSS reader (also called an aggregator), which trolls RSS feeds across the Web to regularly update content. All are pretty easy to use, offering users the chance to read, e-mail, save or clip content with a click of the mouse. There are many free, web-based readers, all which compile and update feeds. For heavier users, there are desktop, application-based readers that offer more features. iTunes is probably the most popular aggregator for RSS feeds, but there is also rssreader.com and google.com, to name a few.
| How Do I Print a Blog?
You can print a blog by clicking on the title link and viewing the blog in a single page. If you click the printer icon on the top bar of your browser the blog page will print on your default printer. Or you can choose File/Print then Print and page will print on your default printer. | How can I get the Interact RSS feeds through my RSS reader?
If you click any RSS link on the Interact site you will see a page that lists all of the available podcasts or blogs for the site. Most RSS Readers have a subscribe to feed option where you can enter the url of the RSS feed. If you copy the Interact RSS url in your browsers Address Bar, you can paste that directly into the Subscription URL Address bar in your default reader and press Enter or click Subscribe. You should see the Interact RSS content added to your RSS Reader. |
